How to use:
- Clean the area: Ensure the area to be bonded/Glued is free from as much dust and debris as possible to ensure better adhesion.
- Application: Apply the glue in continuous small blobs down the length of the break on both pieces of the fire brick.
- Joining together: Press the 2 parts of the brick together with moderate pressure and move the brick up and down (very slightly and slowly) until until your happy everything is in the finishing position. This will do 2 things, 1 spread the adhesive within the break evenly and allow you to line the brick up to its correct position.
- Cleaning up: You will now have excess adhesive coming out from the cracks due to the pressure and movement. You now want to use a small scraper or some sort of rigid flat item that will allow you scrape the excess adhesive away. We would recommend that you don’t scrape all the glue away and rather just take away the extreme excess and whilst doing this spread it around to ensure you have filled the external crack and to give a bit of extra strength externally. Please try to tool the adhesive with the first 5 mins of applying as it will start to set and become harder to manipulate.
- Care in Handling: Whilst your handling the brick please be mindful that until its set it could come apart again if handled roughly etc.
- Setting of Adhesive: The Adhesive will start to set fairly quickly on the outside as it is thinner. In tests we found that external glue dried within approx 12 minutes. Whilst it will be dry on the outside please remember that where the glue is internally it will be sheltered from air and will be thicker so will take more time. If it is required that the brick is put back into the stove quickly (for example during a Chimney Sweeps visit - they are very busy people!) Whilst heat will speed up the setting process we recommend that the brick is left for approx 25 Minutes before placing back into the stove. When placed into the stove start with some light heat to help cure the adhesive slowly and then build up. If leaving the brick out to air dry then we recommend leaving it a minimum of 4-6 hours.
